Obituary for Judith "Judy" Conklin
POUGHKEEPSIE – Judith Conklin, 78, died on February 7, 2021 at home. A resident of Poughkeepsie, NY since 1962, she moved to Myrtle Beach, SC from 2000-2012, before moving back home.
Born on December 25, 1942 in Far Rockaway, NY, Judy was the daughter of the late Norman and May (Golding) Rice. On November 4, 1962 in Poughkeepsie, she married Robert L. Conklin who predeceased her on November 27, 2012 after 50 years of marriage.
Judy was a member of Congregation Ahavath Israel. She retired from Orville A. Todd Middle School in Poughkeepsie after 25 years of service, and was a member of NYSUT (New York State United Teachers) and South Road Runners Chapter NCHA. She was also active with Greyhound Rescue.
Judy enjoyed camping, crafting, and reading. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her daughters, Susan Delphin and her husband Barthold of Frederick, MD and Sharon Bobi of Poughkeepsie, NY; her grandchildren, Sofia Bobi and her boyfriend, Joseph Fernandez of Myrtle Beach, SC and Grace Delphin of Frederick, MD; her step-granddaughter, Jacqueline Williams and her husband Robert; her great-grandson, Jaxen Fernandez; her step great-grandchildren, Micah and Mirelle Williams; her sister, Betty Schoenberg and her husband Steven of Kissimmee, FL; her sister-in-law, Myrtle Manning of Colorado; her close friends, Ellen Lucca, Linda Germinaro, Colleen Burger, Carol Decker, and Betty Jean “Chub” Jansen; her beloved dog, Maddie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family thanks the staff of RCU at Vassar Brothers Medical Center for their care and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
