Obituary

Robert Ronald Wilbarg, a longtime resident of the area, died on February 13, 2021. He was 78. Robert was born on May 4, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York to Robert W. and Caroline Wilbarg.
The family moved to East Northport, Long Island when Bob was 13.
He met Sue Lloyd on a blind date in 1958 and when he graduated Stony Brook University, they married on June 13, 1964. After 2 years at Dartmouth College, for a master’s degree, they moved to Baltimore where he worked for Westinghouse. Their son Rob was born in 1966.
A year later, he joined IBM in East Fishkill and moved back to New York, where their daughter Samantha was born.
In 1969 the family moved to a “starter” home in Hopewell Junction. The kids married and left, but we still lived there.
In January of 1981, Bob became a friend of Bill W.’s. He was very grateful for the sponsors and friends he had through the years.
He retired from IBM as a senior engineer after 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; his “favorite” daughter, Samantha Pratt and her husband, Chuck; his son, Rob and his wife, Kim; his 3 kitties, Murphy, Scootch, and Gray; his sister-in-law, Judy Thomas and her family in Florida.
There will be a memorial service over the summer.
Memorial donations may be made to Hope On A Mission: HOAM, Inc., www.hopeonamission.org

We will miss you Bob, The grand Puba. He was a great friend and all the talks and friendship. His favorite cookie was Mallomars.
I use to envy him with all the plantings for his yard, he did so much. All condolences, prayers and love to the family and to his wife Sue. God Bless. Dave and Cheryl Gray Wappingers Falls, NY

Bob referred to me as a commie, pinko bedwetter. Yet when we discussed politics, we always seemed to agree on almost everything.
I knew him as a warm, caring, generous guy who taught me how to make friends with raccoons. I regret that I missed opportunities to spend time with him, thinking that there would always be another day.

My deepest condolences to the Wilbarg Family. I'll always cherish the long talks Bob and I had about so much more than just program The one thing I will always remember was the night I asked Bob to lead Anniversary night and at the end, he announced "Now we are going to sing Happy Anniversary, to the tune of Jingle Bells" That was classic BW!
When you finally get to meet your Higher Power, I know She will appreciate your sense of humor as much as I do. RIP my friend....Don

Bob was one of the most selfless people I have ever meet , always doing for others in silence , he would said “ doesn’t count when you do something nice for others and tell all”. Thank you for always reminding us of this . Bob I will miss your interesting words of wisdom and most of all your presence. With Love Kathy T. CTM
