Obituary for David Pastir

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – David Pastir, 82, a longtime resident of the Hudson Valley, died at home on February 18, 2021. He previously lived in Pennsylvania.
Born in Colver, PA on November 4, 1938, David was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Vancas) Pastir. On August 13, 1960, he married Marcia Kiraly who predeceased him. David was employed as a teacher in Pittsburgh during the 1960’s and then worked for 29 years for Lakeland Central School District until his retirement. He remained an avid supporter and member of the Lakeland Federation of Teachers.
David had many hobbies during his life, including playing the harmonica for 75 years. He also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and telling stories. He loved traveling, especially on European River Cruises and enjoyed drinking Canadian Whiskey and Champagne.
David was a member of the Germania Club where he loved to socialize with his friends. Most of all, he enjoyed being entertained by his great-grandchildren. His family and friends will remember him as being a patient man of grace, common sense, and good judgement.
He is survived by his daughter, Denise Marinaccio and her husband Michael; his grandchildren, Brett and Breanna Marinaccio; his great-grandchildren, Ava and Aidan Marinaccio; his sister, Irene Hazy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, David was also predeceased by his brothers, Michael and Donald Pastir.
