Obituary for William J. Maher Jr.
William (Bill) Maher Jr., 58, a longtime resident of the Hudson Valley, passed away from complications after cancer surgery, on February 19, 2021.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife Debbie; his daughter Alyssa; his daughter Danielle and son-in-law Devin; his mother-in-law Dorothy; his siblings and their spouses, Stephen and Stacey Maher, Theresa Jordan, Cathy and Karl Juhn, Eileen and Ricky Montross; and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill is also predeceased by his sister Mary.
Bill loved his job as a Metro North train engineer, and leaves behind many close friends and co-workers. He enjoyed working on cars, barbecuing, woodworking, traveling the country with his wife, sending and making memes, and always had a smile on his face when he was around his deeply loved friends and family. He had a wealth of knowledge on many topics and was always ready to lend others a hand.
Visitation will take place from 2pm to 6pm, with funeral service to follow at 6pm, on Wednesday, February 24th at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. PLEASE NOTE: In compliance with NYS guidelines, social distancing and face masks will be required. Since capacity may be limited, all attendees should be prepared for potential extended waiting periods.
