Obituary for Brenda A Joyce

FISHKILL – Brenda Joyce, an area resident for over 20 years, entered into rest March 28, 2021 at the Waterview Hills Nursing & Rehabilitation Center due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Brenda was born on September 25th in New Jersey to Mary and Michael Joyce. She was the youngest of four children. She spent most of her life in Tenafly and Cresskill New Jersey, before relocating to New York to be closer to family.

For most of her career, Brenda was employed by IBM in Manhattan as an Executive Assistant and retired in 1992.

Brenda was proud of her Irish heritage. She was a past officer in the American Legion in Beacon and always supported the troops. She loved volunteering her time with the veterans at Castle Point Veterans Hospital. Brenda was very proud of her great nephew, Anthony when he became a Marine. Brenda was a parishioner at St. Mary Mother of the Church in Fishkill. She enjoyed animals and visits to the zoo; sports, especially the NY Mets; music (loved God Bless America), traveling, playing Bingo, going to casinos and most of all, spending time with her family. She attended all of the events for the great nieces and nephews: every sports game, band concert, dance recital and parade and she loved every minute of it! She played endless games of Memory, May I, Uno and Yahtzee. Brenda was generous with her time and would do anything for anyone.
Brenda enjoyed living in Fishkill, walking up and down Main Street. She often had lunch at the Tomato Café and had coffee daily at The Bagel Shoppe. A special thank you to Joe Raffaele, and the team, at The Bagel Shoppe for the kindness they always extended to Aunt Brenda.

Brenda is survived by her sister Catherine Hall and brother-in-law, Harold Hall of San Diego, CA, and her sister Marie Robbins of Spring Valley, NY; her nephew and nieces, Christopher and Heesun Hall of Frederick, CO, Bethina Monaco of Poughkeepsie, NY, Ami Hall, of San Diego, CA, Bonnie and Christopher Ericson of Beacon, NY, Terese and Andrew Cosentino of Wappingers Falls, NY, and Rebecca and Nathan Shelby, of San Diego, CA; her great-nephews and great-nieces, Anthony and Jacqueline Monaco, Zachary and Megan Ericson, Tyler Ericson and partner Elizabeth Noble, Sabrina Monaco, Eliza Ericson, Kate Shelby, Maximus Hall, Jozey Hall, Jack Shelby, Lia Cosentino and Ali Cosentino; and her great-great nephew and nieces, Anthony Monaco, Emma Monaco and Kennedy Ericson.

Brenda was predeceased by her parents and brother, James P. Joyce, her nephew, Micah Hall and her great niece, Zoey Hall.

Brenda’s family is grateful to the nurses, aides and staff of Salem Hills Rehabilitation in Purdy’s, NY, for the compassionate and professional care they provided while Brenda resided there for the last two and half years. Their efforts are deeply appreciated.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY. Interment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc.
