Obituary for Marie Ellen Monroe

Marie Ellen Monroe passed away peacefully on April 20, 2021.

Marie was born on October 29, 1936. Marie lived a life full of love surrounded by husband and family. Marie and Richard (Dick) were married in wedded bliss on March 2, 1957. They shared 64 years selflessly loving each other. Marie and Dick found laughs in all they did.

In Marie’s early years, she ventured to Maine and travelled the US with her teammates following the PWBA National Tournaments. Marie worked at Schneider’s Fishkill Bowl where she taught thousands of children to love the sport of bowling, many who she remembered by name. Marie bowled for decades and found love being surrounded by others.

In Marie’s later years, she found the card game of SKIP-BO and played nightly. Bird watching and crafting became favorite past times of Marie’s. She would watch from her window and could name all the birds. Marie crafted mini bowling pins into her favorite characters and painted various wood working pieces. She spent hours crocheting hats to donate to various organizations.

Marie is survived by her husband, Richard Monroe; her children, Richard E. Monroe and Susan Monroe; her seven grandchildren, Shaun O’Neill, Lynn Marie & Jeremy Angevine, Kevin & Amber Monroe, Marykate Monroe, Kyle Conners, Julianne Monroe, Caleb Monroe; and her two great-grandchildren, Angelo Monroe and Rylee Angevine. Marie is also survived by her two sisters, Sue Sheehan and Dorothy Ravesi, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews, and her friend Linda Smith.

Marie is now reunited with her parents Dorothy and Joseph Ravesi; brother Joseph Ravesi; son Mark Monroe; and best friend Roberta Hollenbeck.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Jct., NY.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The American Diabetes Association.
