Obituary for Dominick Joseph "Jumpin Joe" Reda

WAPPINGERS FALLS - Dominick Joseph Reda, 85, an area resident since 1978 and formerly of the Bronx, died peacefully on May 4, 2021 at his home. ‘Jumpin Joe’ was a man with a passion for his family, friends, and NY baseball. He was someone who would do anything for anyone. He had a serious face but a kind and gentle heart, and loved to make people laugh.

Born in the Bronx on April 16, 1936, he was the son of Alfonso and Rosaria (Greco) Reda. Joe was hard working and commuted to New York City for over 20 years to provide the best for his wife, children and mother. Employed as a banker with European American Bank, he was a self-made success by starting as a teller and working his way up to Vice President. An avid New York sports fan, he loved the Yankees, Giants, Rangers and Knicks. Joe was the Great Sandlot Manager. He also enjoyed bowling.

Joe is survived by his rock and loving wife of over 52 years, Paulette (Goldschmitt) Reda; his son, Scott Reda and his wife Jen; his daughter, Karen Braccia and her husband Christopher; and his granddaughters, Aria Rose and Serena Joelle.

Joe touched the lives of everyone he encountered, each with their own story to tell. Please celebrate him by buying someone a cup of coffee, cracking a joke for someone who looks like they need a good laugh, root for the NY Yankees, play some doo-wop music and do the twist, smile every day, have a good meal, and always save your money. When you start to feel sad, remember he is now with some of his dearest friends and family who left this earth before him.
Hum babe, hum boy!
