Obituary

William F. DeSimone, 73, a lifelong Cold Spring resident, died on May 21, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born on June 23, 1947 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, William was the son of Shirley Clum.
William proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a 1st Calvary Infantry Combat Veteran. He worked as a butcher for A&P in Yorktown Heights for over 47 years.
On September 4, 1965 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, William married Rosemary Grova who survives at home. William and Rosemary met when he was 15 years old.
He was a lifetime member of DAV and the American Legion. He loved his wife of 55 years, his children, and his family more than anything. He was a caring and loving man who always put people first. He put everyone before himself and he had a heart of gold. He was a kind man who will always be in our hearts forever.
In addition to Rosemary, other survivors include his children, William Joseph (Billy Joe) and his wife Gabrielle of Cold Spring and Gina Pereira and her husband Jorge of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, the absolute loves of his life, Elena, Isabella, and Melanie; his niece, Christina DeDonato and her husband Tony along with their son, his grandnephew, Christopher (his "Donato D" always held a special place in William’s heart) of Beacon; his niece, Lisa Miner of Wappingers Falls; his niece, Wendy Haumaier of Poughkeepsie; his cousins, Tony Walters of Brooklyn and Patricia Collier of Florida; his brother, Robert DeSimone of North Carolina; and his stepsister, Diane Brinks of Florida. He is also survived by countless cousins.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10am at St. Mary Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson St., Fishkill. Burial will be held on Saturday at 11am at Fishkill Rural Cemetery with military honors. Please note: All guests must practice safety precautions in accordance with CDC guidelines.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. Please visit William’s Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.

Deepest condolences to you and your family Gina. My heart is broken knowing you lost such a wonderful Father who loved and adored his family. I was so blessed to have met him at one of your parties and we shared many stories of his time in the military.

Such a sweet and loving soul who had an infectious smile. I know his death will bring much sadness in the coming days, but please remember that all of us will be reunited one day. It's the only saving grace that keeps me strong when I feel sad having lost so many wonderful people in my life as well. This is will be hard to bear, but know that we are right next door and if you ever want to talk or get a loving hug as we will open our doors any hour of the day just for you and Jorge. Our deepest sympathy to you and your whole family. SPECIAL HUGS to your Mom. Love you BOTH......Your neighbors Aggie, Chrissy & Diego
