Obituary for Thomas J. Donohue
HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Thomas J. Donohue, 77, an area resident since 1973, died on May 25, 2021 at Cortlandt Healthcare after a brief illness. He previously lived in the Bronx.
Born in Manhattan on May 2, 1944, Thomas was the son of the late John and Florence (Fox) Donohue. He was a 1962 graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx. Tom was employed as a Regional Marketing Manager for BMW North America for over 20 years until his retirement .
Tom loved Irish music and was an avid fan of the NY Jets and Yankees. When his children were younger, Tom was active in the community coaching several teams in the East Fishkill Little League and Pop Warner Football programs and served as Pack Leader with the Boy Scouts of America. He was proud to have carried the Olympic Torch in 1996 through parts of New Haven, CT. But of all his achievements, the thing he loved most was dancing with his wife Eileen. Anyone who knew him immediately loved him, and Tom’s family and friends will especially miss his sense of humor and his storytelling.
On May 21, 1966 at the Church of Our Lady of Mercy in the Bronx, Tom married Eileen (Farrell) Donohue. His wife of over 55 years survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Michael and Kristina Donohue of Wappingers Falls, Matthew and Beth Donohue of Poughkeepsie, Mary and Mario DiLoreto of Glastonbury, CT, and Laura and Paul Curran of High Falls; his grandchildren, Thomas, Michael, Tyler, Kylie, Matthew, Ryan, Michael, John, Lauren, Rowan, Ella, and Scarlett; his great-grandchildren, Celeste and Jonathan; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tom was also predeceased by his brother, John Donohue.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
