Obituary for Dominic John Capogna

EAST FISHKILL – Dominic John Capogna, Sr., 85, an area resident for 61 years, died on June 2, 2021 at his home.

Born on April 2, 1936 in the Bronx, he was the son of Attilio and Jenny (Terracciano) Capogna. He had employed as a carpenter for Local #323 in Beacon. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church, and a member of St. Mary’s Council #4065, Knights of Columbus and the Elks. Dominic had volunteered at St. Columba Church and Graymoor. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and woodworking.

On June 30, 1956 at St. Denis Church in Yonkers, Dominic married the love of his life, Geraldine Rosato, who survives at home. He is also survived by his sons, Gerard, Dominic Jr. and John; his grandchildren, Lindsay and Michael Baxter, Vincent and Jonina Capogna, and Samuel Capogna; his great-grandchildren, Zoey and Michael Baxter, Elyana and Sofia Capogna; his siblings, Ralph and Phyllis Capogna, Anna Pugliese, Susan and Raymond Stanton, and Jenny Capogna; his sister-in-law, Marie Capogna; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was looking forward to the birth of his fifth great-grandchild in December. Dominic was predeceased by his siblings, Anthony Capogna, Josephine and Louis Cantalupi, and Angela Mela; his brothers-in-law, Joseph Pugliese and Louis Cantalupi; and his stepmother, Angela Capogna.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
