Obituary for Louis Frank Tempestilli

WAPPINGERS FALLS – Louis Frank Tempestilli, 91, passed through the Gate of Heaven on Friday, June 11, 2021.
He was born in the Bronx on October 22, 1929, son of the late Pasquale and Ursula (Raggazino) Tempestilli. In 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged from service in 1951. A proud Korean Conflict Veteran, Louis was awarded the Korean Service Medal.
Louis married the love of his life, Jean Pondiccio, on April 19, 1952 at St. Ann Church in Yonkers. Jean predeceased him on December 20, 1995.
In October 1961 they purchased a home in Wappingers Falls where they raised three sons. Louis was employed by the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A &P), where he worked for nearly 40 years as a butcher and became manager of the meat department. He retired in 1995.
Louis always enjoyed taking day-long road trips up until his passing. In his younger years, he played for the “Fleetwood Flyers”, his neighborhood softball team. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan.
He is survived by his three sons and their wives: Nick & Alison of Verbank, Ray & Stacey of Vermontville, and Tom & Colleen of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Matthew & Michalela; and his brother & sister-in-law, Pat & Rosemarie of Hopewell Junction.
Louis was predeceased by his wife Jean, his parents, and three brothers: Larry, Frank, and Joe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 14 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
