Obituary for Margaret A. "Peggy" Murray
Margaret A. Murray, "Peggy", 82, a resident of Stormville and previously of the Bronx, died on June 12, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.
Born on August 27, 1939 in the Bronx, Peggy was the daughter of Patrick and Catherine (Elder) Cassidy. On January 25, 1959 in New York City, Peggy married the love of her life, William J. Murray Sr., who predeceased her on May 20, 1974.
Peggy spent many years working at the East Fishkill Police Department in many roles including bookkeeping and payroll, and for the Town of East Fishkill in purchasing. She enjoyed spending time doing puzzles, reading books, watching television including her black and white movies, General Hospital, Days of our Lives and Girls Softball, checking out her tablet and Facebook. Peggy was a very independent and a one of a kind woman who loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, William Murray of Peekskill and Tracey Murray Garfinkel and her husband Bobby of Stormville; her grandchildren, Brandon, Bobby, Pamela, Cynthia and Marisa; her great grandchildren, Logan, Mason, Appolonia “Lena”, Gavin and Samantha; her siblings, Rosemarie Hirsh, Sr. Terry, Jeanne Cassidy; her sister in law, Yolanda Cassidy; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Peggy was predeceased by her siblings, Catherine “Dolly” Cassidy, Patrick Cassidy, Billy Cassidy and Tommy Cassidy.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 3-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held on Friday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
