Obituary for Adolph Frederick "Al" Huber

FISHKILL – Adolph F. “Al” Huber, a Fishkill resident since 1957 and formerly of Little Neck, Queens, passed away at home on Monday, August 30, 2021. He was 99.
Son of the late Frank and Anna (Rast) Huber, Al was born in Brooklyn on November 8, 1921. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged from service in 1946.
Al served as a Corrections Officer for the New York State Department of Corrections and worked at several facilities throughout the Hudson Valley, including Green Haven and Fishkill (formerly Matteawan) Correctional Facilities. He retired at the age of 55.
Following his retirement, Al maintained a rigid physical fitness routine and was an active member of Fishkill All Sport. He always loved taking care of his pets and other animals and especially enjoyed birdwatching.
On March 15, 1947, he married Eleanor Stoll, who predeceased him on March 11, 2010.
Al is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law: Stephen & Ginger Huber of Newburgh; and Robin & Barbara Huber of Hopewell Junction. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, as well as other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by five siblings: Anna, Frank, Jack, Celie, and Robbie.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 2 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September at the funeral home with Rev. Gregory Higgins officiating. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
