Obituary for Clare A. Moran (McHugh)

EAST FISHKILL – Clare A. Moran, 65, an area resident since 1994 and formerly of the Bronx, died peacefully on October 8, 2021 at White Plains Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in the Bronx on August 12, 1956, she was the daughter of Annie (Quinn) McHugh and the late Michael McHugh. Clare was employed as a Clerk in the Assessor’s Office for the Town of East Fishkill since 2007.

Clare was a very active and devoted member of the East Fishkill Community. She was a parishioner of St. Columba Church where she served in the Ministry of Care. For more than 15 years, she volunteered as an EMT and was the Vice President and a Lieutenant with the East Fishkill Rescue Squad and was a Director for Hillside Lake Fire Company #3 in the East Fishkill Fire District. As the Co-Founder and Vice President of Julie’s Jungle, Clare was instrumental in the fundraising and development of the fully accessible playground for children of all abilities to play and learn together. She also served on the East Fishkill Republican Committee and was a member of the East Fishkill Republican Club.

On June 19, 1982 at St. Brendan’s Church in the Bronx, Clare married Thomas Moran who survives at home. In addition to her husband and mother, she is also survived by her children, Thomas Moran, Alana Moran and her husband David Greiner, Brendan Moran and his wife Amanda; her grandchildren, Teagan Greiner and Gabriel Moran; her siblings and their spouses, Michael and Palma McHugh, Bernadette McHugh and John Biroldi, Gerard “Gerry” McHugh, Brian and Linda McHugh; her lifelong best friend, Suzanne Gentilello; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
