Obituary for Dolores Sabol

Dolores Angela Gamba Sabol, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 17, 2022 in Tupelo, Mississippi.
She had been living at the Mitchell Center assisted living facility at Traceway in Tupelo for the past three years. Dolores had great care from the staff there, especially Shonda Judon and Teresa Green.
Dolores was one of triplets born in her parents’ farmhouse in Wiccopee, New York on May 23, 1927. She graduated from Wappingers Falls High School in New York. Dolores married Richard Sabol on October 26, 1946. After raising her two children, she worked for 15 years as a New York state prison guard at Matteawan State Hospital in Beacon, New York. Dolores was an active member of Beacon Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and served as a church deacon. Her favorite church hymns were “The King is Coming”, “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”, “Precious Lord, Take my Hand”, and “He Lives”.
Dolores loved to travel and see new areas with her husband Richard until his death in Tupelo in August 2008. They traveled to Hawaii, Israel, Greece, Peru, Costa Rica, and many other places. Dolores sewed anything from preemie baby clothes and rag dolls to girls’ dresses and even sewed her own clothes. Dolores also loved to read and to cook for her family. After their retirement in New York in 1977, Dolores and Richard lived in North Fort Myers, Florida for 17 years and then lived in Roswell, New Mexico for 12 years. In 2006 they moved to Tupelo, Mississippi to be near their daughter Jean.
Dolores is preceded in death by her husband Richard Sabol; her son David Sabol; her older brother Sgt. Eugene Gamba; her triplet brother Bernie Gamba of Wiccopee; and her triplet sister who died as an infant.
Dolores is survived by her younger sister Lorraine Gamba Seitz of Cummings, Ga.; her daughter Jean Sabol Hastings and son in law David Hastings of Roswell, NM; her two grandsons David and Jonathan Hastings of Tupelo, MS; and other relatives.
Dolores’ final resting place will be next to her husband Richard at Shenandoah Cemetery in New York. Pegues Funeral Home in Tupelo and McHoul Funeral Home in Fishkill, NY have been entrusted with final arrangements.
