Obituary for Francine Clemens (Conti)

Francine Clemens, age 71, passed away quietly in her Lagrangeville, NY home, surrounded by her family, on May 20, 2022.

She is survived by her husband Thomas, whom she met at Gorton High School when she was 16 and he 17 ... they have been together ever since, and were married on June 3, 1972. She is also survived by their children Nicole and Michelle, her three grandchildren Wyatt, Daniella, and Angelina, and her sister and brother, Laura and John Conti.

Francine was born in Bronx, NY on August 12, 1950, the middle child to her parents Millie (Carmella) Lia and Joseph Conti.

She earned her Bachelors Degree at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY and her Masters in Education at SUNY New Paltz, NY.

Her first few years in teaching were spent at the Hope Farm Greer School in Millbrook, then left to have her children, ultimately re-entering the profession in the Arlington Central School District. The remaining three plus decades of her career were lovingly spent teaching Kindergarten at the Todd Hill Elementary School in Lagrangeville, NY until her retirement in June of 2010.

Her passionate goal was to instill in every child a love of school and learning, making sure that they started out on the right foot. Her love of music and dance found its way into her classroom and she received particular satisfaction in entertaining her students. She touched the lives of so many children during her career that as years passed, she reveled in seeing them as they grew and thrived, always happy to bump into them in the community and hear their stories. Her passing leaves a hole in all our hearts; we lost such an exceptional and caring woman.

A wake will be held on Monday evening, May 23, 2022, between the hours of 4 - 8 pm, and will be located at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. The church service will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. Following the service, Francine's wish was to be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Please visit Francine’s Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
