Obituary for Alice S Phelps (Shaffer)
MILLBROOK – Alice S. Phelps, 97, a lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully June 12, 2022 at her home.
Born on December 5, 1924 in the Town of Beekman, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Susan Shaffer. On January 10, 1941, she married Sterling W. Phelps who predeceased her in 2006 after 64 years of marriage.
Alice worked for 30 years in the Billings Post Office being Postmaster for 13 of those years. She was a member of the Lagrangeville Trinity Methodist Church and past member of the LaGrange S.W. Phelps Volunteer Fire Company #1.
Alice is survived by her sister, Alicia Andrews of Millbrook; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was also predeceased by her brother, Samuel Shaffer; and her sisters, Lois Evans and Betty Secor, both from Billings.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral services.
