Obituary for Elizabeth M. Lawrence
WAPPINGERS FALLS – Elizabeth M. Lawrence, 82, an area resident since 1990, died on July 19, 2020 at Northern Dutchess Hospital. She previously lived in Shrub Oak.
Born in the Bronx on January 15, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Loretta (Casaceli) Whelan. On June 17, 1961 at St. Philip Neri Church in the Bronx, Elizabeth married Frederick William Lawrence who predeceased her on January 11, 2016 after 55 years of marriage. She had been a parishioner at Christ the King Church in Ridgefield, CT.
Elizabeth is survived by her children and their spouses, Patricia and Nicholas Caridi of LaGrange, Stephen and Nancy Lawrence of East Fishkill, Matthew and April Lawrence of Poughquag, Mary and Kevin Denny of North Carolina, Ann Marie Lawrence of Clinton Corners, and Dennis Lawrence of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Kristin, Dominick, Michelle, Stephen, Jessica, Christine, Kevin, Jason, Mitchell, Aaron, Nathan, Matthew, Rachel, Joseph, Anthony, Allison, Katrina, Jonathon, Maria, Amelia, Zachary, Adam, and Aryanna; and her sisters, Patricia Whelan and Loretta Dvorak. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Jordan.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ridgefield, CT.
Donations may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to Christ the King Retreat House to support their mission in the offering of the Ignatian Retreat.
