Obituary for Rosaria Vitello

FISHKILL - Rosaria Vitello, 87, an area resident since 1991 and formerly of Ozone Park, Queens and Aragona, Sicily, Italy, died peacefully at her home on August 5, 2022.

Born in Aragona, Sicily, Italy on December 20, 1934, she was the oldest of ten children of Raymond and Giovanna (Lattuca) Galluzzo. On January 21, 1956 in Aragona, Rosaria married the love of her life, Alfonso Vitello, who predeceased her in 2006.

Rosaria enjoyed spending time at both the Fishkill and East Fishkill Senior Centers. She also enjoyed cooking, dancing, sipping Johnny Walker Black, Double Black, Red, Green, Gold or Blue, going to parties and family gatherings, and listening to Frank Sinatra. More than anything she loved her children and grandchildren. Her infectious laugh would light up any room, and she constantly made people smile.

She is survived by her daughter, Florence Barra and her husband Joseph; her grandchildren, Joseph Barra, Andrew Barra, Anthony Vitello and Christina Vitello; and many sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son, Carmine Vitello.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10am at the funeral home followed by entombment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
