Obituary for Rose Mary Augulis

Hopewell Junction- Rose Mary Augulis, a resident of Hopewell Junction for the past 18 years, previously from Brooklyn, NY passed away at home on September 8, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was 79 years old.

Rose was born in Brooklyn on September 14, 1942, the daughter of John and Rose (Klimekwicz) Brylski. She was educated and lived in Brooklyn until 18 years ago when she moved to Hopewell Junction.

Despite her often hard as nails, no-nonsense attitude, Rose was a loving and sensitive woman who cared deeply for her family and friends. She was always willing to help someone out and would give you the proverbial “shirt off her back.”
Rose has stated that her greatest accomplishment in life is her family and caring for her grandchildren. One of the ways she showed that love was to spend time in the kitchen cooking for her them. Her pierogis and Lithuanian stuffing were her signature dishes - no one makes them like she does. She was proud of her grandchildren and never failed to brag about their many talents and the great things they were working on, their talents, projects and accomplishments.
One of Rose’s fondest memories was her 50th wedding anniversary trip to Niagara Falls, Canada, with her entire family. It was a trip she would have loved to repeat.
She adored when her sisters’ visits. They would go to the casinos to play the slot machines, one of her most favorite things. Or, they would go out to lunch or just stay home playing cards or dominoes, and in general just laughing in each other’s company. In later years, when she was confined more to home, she loved to laugh, and shout, at them through their video chats on Facebook.
Rose loved all things blue, collecting bells, glassware and china. She adored animals of all kinds, but especially her puppies and kitties. She was fond of the Christmas season, always displaying a brilliant tree overflowing with decorations. She loved music, puzzles, playing online games, watching not just classic dramas and sci-fi B movies.

Rose is survived by her children Dawn and Mason Augulis-Johnson, Jo-Ann and Sandy Franklin, Bette Augulis Simmons and Joseph Augulis Jr., her grandchildren April-Rose, Rhiannon, Gabrielle, Alyssa, Brooke, Emeline and Elisabeth, and her great-grandchildren Graysen, Nathaniel and Daphne and her sisters Mary DeMicco and Loretta Ingin.

She is pre-deceased by her husband Joseph Augulis Sr. who passed away in 2014 and her sister Stephanie and brothers John and Henry.

At this time all services are private.
