Obituary for Evert "Sunny" Munning Jr.

Evert “Sunny” Munning, Jr., 91, died on September 13, 2022 at the Putnam Ridge Skilled Nursing Center.

Born in Brooklyn on September 9, 1931, he was the son of Evert and Anna Yolanda (Hermanson) Munning. Evert proudly served our country in the US Air Force, and had been employed as a data processor at Statistics for Management in White Plains. He had also worked as a bus driver for Chappaqua Transportation.

Evert attended Calvary Chapel and Valley Christian Churches. He had also been a member of the Patterson Community Church where he served as an elder and in leadership, and was a part of the Bible study. He was a member of the Manny Bacon Post #1758, American Legion, and the East Fishkill Seniors.

On December 5, 1953 at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL, Evert married his beloved wife, Catherine Mary “Teeny” Hills who predeceased him on November 29, 2016. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Patricia (Ron) Ristaino, Debi (Brian) Molfese, Edward Thomas (Kathy) Munning, Karen (Kevin) Raab; his grandchildren, Jeremy (fiancé Nancy) Hansmann, Justin (Jessica) Molfese; Krysta Rose (Andrew) Schaefer, Nicholas Munning, Jason (Chelsi) Munning, Rachel Munning, and Keith (Nicole) Raab ; his great-grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Skye Rose, Rohen, Ezrah, Haylee, Martina, Kaia, Megan, Brooke, Natalie, and Paige; and his sister, Alice Ryan. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by his son, Gary Munning; and his sisters, Gladys and Gloria.

The family would like to thank the staff of Putnam Ridge Nursing Center for their loving care of their father for the last two and a half years.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 2 from 12:30-2:30pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a celebration of Evert’s life beginning at 2:30pm.
