Obituary for Kevin Stephen Quinn

Kevin Stephen Quinn, 54, an area resident since 1991 and formerly of Glendale, Queens, died on September 13, 2022 at his home following a long illness, surrounded by his family and close friends.

Born in Queens on March 21, 1968, he was the son of Stephen and Louise (Kessler) Quinn. Kevin graduated from St. John’s University and was employed as a salesman for several different companies in and around the Hudson Valley with his last position being at Progressive. Due to his long battle with his illnesses, Kevin was unable to work for the last several years leading up to his death.

Kevin was a parishioner of St. Columba Church. He was an avid sports fan and always supported his New York teams - the Yankees, the Giants, the Islanders, and the Nets, as well as Notre Dame. He was also a tremendous supporter of his son’s baseball career, which started with Beekman and LaGrangeville Little League and continued on to his various travel teams and now at Arlington High School.

On November 8th, 2003 in New Windsor, Kevin married his beautiful wife, Heather Baker. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also survived by his sister, Patricia Quinn; his son, Justin Quinn; his daughter Ashley Stallworth and her husband Jalen; and his granddaughters, Nova and Soul Stallworth; as well as his in laws, Edward and Janet Baker, and their daughter Meredith Baker.

The family would like to thank Dr. Varonuk and his nurse Leslie; the staff at MSK Cancer Center as well as the entire staff of Hudson Valley Hospice for their care and concern.

Kevin loved traveling with his family, and often planned memorable vacations, including many visits to Hershey Park. Kevin enjoyed playing golf, horseshoe tournaments, corn hole games, and neighborhood poker. Kevin had a huge heart for animals. He loved the holidays, especially Christmas when he took great pride in decorating his house year after year.

Although Kevin’s illness was somewhat debilitating to him, he would never let it stop him from doing what he loved most with his family and friends. Battling his illnesses with a smile on his face led him to be seen as a hero by his family.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to your local animal shelter or to the family.
