Obituary for Evelyn Mae Perry (Collins)

Dutchess County - Evelyn Mae Perry, an area resident since 2012 and formerly of Elmsford, died on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at The Grand at Pawling. She was 101.

Born in Briarcliff Manor, she was the daughter of the late John and Olive (Bell) Collins. She retired as secretary to the Superintendent from the Ardsley Board of Education in 1989 after 29 years of service.

On July 26, 1941 in Armonk, Evelyn married Joseph T. Perry who predeceased her in 1976. She is survived by her children, Joan Pratt of New Windsor, Joe Perry and his wife Terry of Barefoot Bay, FL, Maryann Egan of Garrison, and Rhonda O’Briskie and her partner Ray Cook of Largo, FL; her grandchildren, Deborah and Rich Tompkins, Cindy and Jim Arndt, Kenny and Thelma Pratt, Robin Perry, Christopher and Colleen Perry, Anthony Antonini, Crystal and Lloyd Gruhl, and Mark and Susan O’Briskie; her great-grandchildren, Liana and Steven Kondysar, Riley Tompkins, Frankie Pratt, Erica Pariselli, Charles Pariselli, Victoria Pratt, Mckenna Perry, Jackson Perry, Delaney Perry, Eric Peasley, Aydan O’Briskie, Evan O’Briskie, Colin O’Briskie and Ryan O’Briskie; her great-great grandchildren, Lainey, Landon, and Dylan; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Evelyn was predeceased by her sons-in-law, Charles Pratt and John Egan, and her granddaughter, Lisa Pratt Lawless.

Evelyn was a life member of Ladies Auxiliary Post 506 of the American Legion in Ossining and the Briarcliff Fire Department Auxiliary. She ran the Ardsley Senior Group for 18 years and volunteered at FDR Hospital (VA Hospital at Montrose) for 38 years. She had been recognized as “Volunteer of the Year” in 2001 and the “Westchester County Senior of the Year”. An avid reader, Evelyn also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing Bingo, traveling, camping and spending time with her family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2 from 1pm – 4pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill followed by a service at the funeral home.
