Obituary for Eileen M. Sicina PhD
HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Eileen M. Sicina, PhD, 73, passed away at home on November 25, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. A resident of Hopewell Junction since 1995, she grew up in Florida, NY and had also lived in Amenia, NY.
Born on August 8, 1949 in Florida, NY, Eileen was the daughter of the late Anton and Mary (Brown) Sicina. She is also predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Sicina. She is survived by her sister, Christine Sicina of Middletown, New York and her best friends, Jean Nemes and her husband Jim who reside in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is also survived by many cousins and friends.
Eileen dedicated 43 years of her life to the educational system. She began her career as a teacher at Fredonia Central School System then Cornwall Elementary School before being promoted to Assistant Principal at Liberty Grammar School. Eileen then became the Principal for Webutuck Elementary School before spending the remaining 26 years of her career as Principal at Nassau Elementary School and then Hagan Elementary School, both in the Spackenkill School District. Eileen loved working in the school system, and dedicated her life to the students, their families, and her staff. She gave so much of herself both professionally and personally to all of those who worked with her and knew her. She has left a special place in all of our hearts.
Visitation will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on November 30th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm with a funeral service to follow.
