Obituary for William Robert Strieder
BEEKMAN - William Robert Strieder, 88, an area resident since 1972 and formerly of Ossining, died on November 23, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Queens on June 2, 1934, he was the son of William and Louise (Morhard) Strieder. William proudly served our country in the US Army and the US Air Force Reserves.
William was employed as a Corrections Officer for New York State at Sing Sing Correctional at Facility. After his retirement, he was the owner and operator of Bill’s Pest Control. He was a collector of antique toys and banks. He also loved visiting casinos including Resorts World and Foxwood.
On December 31, 1973 in Stormville, William married Joan Denman who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Nancy Weaver and husband Rick, Janice Garrett McLean and husband Brian, Judith Atencio and fiancé Mike Branch, Keith Brokaw and wife Parris, Sandra Higham and husband Jeffrey; his grandchildren, Christopher and Lauren Katchuk, Brandon Garrett, Joshua Hanzi, Nicole and Christian Ghimbos, Ashley Taper, Valen Atencio, Lindsey and Aaron Cottingham, Keith and Courtney Brokaw, Savannah Brokaw, Alexandra Brokaw, Jeffrey Higham Jr., William Robert Higham and Casey John Higham; and nine great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 10:30am at the funeral home followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
