Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Rahilly peacefully passed away at her home on December 7th 2022, having given her family an opportunity to say goodbye.
Betty was an area resident since 1970 and she was active in community organizations. Among them were the Wiccopee Fire Company where she served as past secretary and life member, the Wiccopee Fire Company Auxiliary/Support where she was life member, and the East Fishkill Rescue Squad where she served for six years.. She was past president and life member of the St. Columba/St. Denis Altar Rosary Society and Past Secretary of the PSA Home School Association. Mary worked for over 20 years as an election inspector for the Dutchess County Board of Elections in her town. She was Den Mother for the Scouts and taught arts and crafts to the Girl Scouts. She helped John Flowers with holiday gifts for nursing homes and helped with the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, where up to the pandemic, she would help put food baskets together for the holidays.
She is survived by her children Kathleen Rahilly, Aileen Moschetto-Martorana and her husband William, Michael Rahilly and his wife Kristen; her seven grandchildren, Rosemary, Joseph along with his fiancé Karen, Patrick, Brenden, Addison, Harper, US Navy Master at Arms Second Class Liam Rahilly-VanBuren and his wife Sierra; and Mary’s great granddaughter Sophia. In addition, she was like a grandmother to Katelyn, Christopher, and Michael VanBuren, Helyna Hedeman and countless others. She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 20 years Joseph; their son Timothy; her parents Robert and Katherine Mercer; her brother Father John Mercer; and her sister Roberta Hess.

Calling hours will be at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction Friday January 13th 2023 from 4pm to 7pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction on Saturday January 14th 2023 at 10am.
A special thanks to all who supported and assisted her in her final days, to include the Hudson Valley Hospice, who gave peace to her and her family. She will be forever missed and her legacy will live on.
