Obituary for Elizabeth Hormann
HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Elizabeth Hormann, 82, an area resident since 2000, died peacefully at home on January 24, 2023. She previously lived in Mohegan Lake.
Born in Hungary on March 23, 1940, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Istuan and Ilona (Unyi) Balla. While living in Hungary, she worked as a manager at Csepel Iron and Metal for over 20 years until her retirement in 1983.
She had been a parishioner at St. Margaret’s Church in Yonkers before moving to Hopewell Junction. Elizabeth enjoyed painting and gardening. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family.
On May 7, 1960 in Budapest, Hungary, she married Bela Hormann who survives at home. She is also survived by her daughter, Cristina Dorney-Zelensky and her husband John of Hopewell Junction; and her grandson, Michael Dorney of Hopewell Junction.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 11 am – 3 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
