Louis J. DeFrancesco, age 100, passed away peacefully at his son’s home on January 27, 2023. He was born in New York, NY on February 21, 1922 to parents Alfredo and Aurelia (Sacchetti) DeFrancesco. On October 10, 1948, he married his love Isabella (Bavaro) DeFrancesco at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mt. Vernon, NY. Isabella predeceased him in 1991.
Louis proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1942 – 1945. He was present during the storming of the beaches at Normandy on D-Day. He served under General Patton in the Big Red One division. He received the Distinguished Unit badge, the Good Conduct medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service medal, and the WBR Arrowhead.
He was a member of the Auxiliary Police in the Bronx for 20+ years, he was President of his Condo’s Homeowners Association for many years.
In his spare time, he loved to hunt, go shooting at the gun club, and loved watching the NY/SF Giants baseball games.
Louis is survived by his loving sons Joseph DeFrancesco and his wife Donna of Poughquag, NY, and Louis DeFrancesco of Jupiter, FL; his granddaughters Alexandra Schneider and her husband Eric of Schenectady, NY, and Tina DeFrancesco of Farmingdale, NY; his grandsons Daniel DeFrancesco and his wife Samantha of NY, NY, and Charles DeFrancesco and his wife Gina of Jupiter, FL; and great grandchildren Lilah Grey and Antonio.
Besides his wife Isabella, Louis was predeceased by his daughter Marie DeFrancesco, his brother Nicholas DeFrancesco, and his daughter-in-law Elaine DeFrancesco.
Calling hours will be held on Monday January 30th, 2023 from 4-7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday January 31st, 2023 at 10am at St. Kateri in Hopewell Junction, followed by burial at St. Anthony’s cemetery in Nanuet, NY.
