William D. Corrigan, 86, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2023, at Maplewood in Danbury. Son of the late Maurice and Lucille (Nichols) Corrigan, he was born on July 8, 1936, in Yonkers, NY. He attended Cathedral College in Manhattan and earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Manhattan College in 1959. On June 11, 1960, he married his college sweetheart Eileen Feeley, at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester, NY. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage.
Bill began his career in the Missiles and Space Division of Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, CA. He then went on to work 30 years with IBM in Poughkeepsie and Kingston retiring as a Senior Program Analyst in 1994.
Bill and Eileen raised their four daughters in Wappingers Falls. Bill’s family meant the world to him. He was endlessly proud of his daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters, their husbands, and children; Elizabeth “Lisa” and Bob Hannagan and their children; Susan and her husband Josh Kehler, Erin and Patrick, of Bethel, CT; Jennifer and Dan Dowd and their children, Timothy, Megan, Matthew, and Beatrice, of Beacon; and Julie and Mark Moren, and their children, Amy, Allison, and Liam, of Poughkeepsie. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Jean Poli, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Jean Corrigan, in 1990, and his siblings, Maurice Corrigan and Jean Jacobs.
Bill was passionate about music and especially loved playing the bagpipes. He was active in many bands over 30 years, including Dutchess County Pipes and Drums, Amerscot Highland Pipe Band, Tara Hall Pipe Band, Albany Capital District Pipe Band, Middle Fort Pipe Band, and Hudson Highlands Pipe Band. He also enjoyed playing numerous other instruments, including the piano, trombone, and bass guitar.
Bill enjoyed learning new languages; he and Eileen spent time working with Literacy Volunteers. Like a true Corrigan, he had the gift of gab and loved to strike up conversations with everyone. Growing up, Bill spent his summers at the Jersey Shore and loved taking his family on yearly vacations to the beach. Bill was a long-time parishioner of St. Columba Roman Catholic Church.
