Obituary for Alice M. Anderson (Medick)
Alice M. Anderson, a longtime resident of Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. She was 92.
Daughter of the late Paul and Agnes (Sullivan) Medick, she was born in Jersey City, NJ on October 10, 1930. She graduated from Wappingers Central High School in 1949. Alice then enrolled in the nursing program at the Vassar Brothers School of Nursing and earned the title of R.N. in 1952. 20 years later, she graduated from Oneonta State University, where she was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
For many years, Alice served as a Registered Nurse for Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.
On August 23, 1953, she married Charles A. Anderson at St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls. Alice was predeceased by her husband on February 8, 2011.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Diane E. McGayhey, in 2017; and her son, Timothy J. Anderson, in 2014.
Survivors include her son, Neil J. Anderson of Massachusetts; and her grandson, Nicholas J. Anderson of New Jersey; as well as many other loving family members & friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 10 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls, NY.
