Obituary for Margaret Mary "Peggy" Cannella
FISHKILL – Margaret Mary “Peggy” Cannella, 73, an area resident since 1974 and formerly of the Bronx, died on March 7, 2023, at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family, following a long illness.
Born in Manhattan on July 12, 1949, she was the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Fraser) DeMelio. Peggy had been an LPN working in the office of Dr. Turk in Fishkill. Peggy was an avid Yankee fan, had a love for dogs and the beach. She was content with a glass of wine, her toes in the sand, and her husband by her side. Her love and joy were her grandchildren.
On September 4, 1999, Peggy married James Cannella, the love of her life always, who survives at home. She is also survived by her children, Coleen Perry and husband Craig, Kevin Duffy, Jeanmarie Kara and husband Todd, and Annmarie Duffy and partner Mark Watt; her stepsons, Keith Cannella and wife Jennifer, and Matthew Cannella and wife Jennifer; her grandchildren, Selena, Aidan, Kaylin, Jackson, Hailey, Ryan, Madeline, Christopher, Emily, and Conner; her sister-in-law, Geri Pasqualina and husband Ralph; and several nieces and nephews.
The calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, followed by entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in her name.
