Obituary for Christopher Richard Chudkosky

Christopher R. Chudkosky, a resident of Fishkill since 1989, and previously of the Bronx, passed away on March 6, 2023, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 70 years old.

Christopher was born in the Bronx on February 3, 1953, to the late Walter and Gladys (Gordis) Chudkosky.

On June 27, 1976, Christopher married the love of his life, Lana Szumlak, in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. She survives at home.
Christopher dedicated many years to the Transit Workers Union, MABSTOA, in New York City before his retirement in 2006. In his leisure time, Christopher was an avid fisherman and regularly participated in fishing competitions throughout the area. He loved spending time at his favorite fishing spots along the Hudson River and in Montauk. Chris was especially fond of striped bass fishing and was proud of his notable achievement when he reeled in a 47-pound catch. Chris was always willing to lend a hand and frequently offered to help family, friends, and neighbors. He also found joy in gardening, working on his boat, and talking with anyone and everyone that would listen. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Kaylee.
He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November of 2017. He was treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering enduring multiple surgeries, hospital stays, rounds of radiation and chemotherapy over the years. Christopher was a fighter and never gave up no matter how difficult things became, especially in the last 5 months. Christopher accepted hospice services in February of 2023 but was hospitalized shortly after. He passed away peacefully and comfortably, with his pain well managed. The day before he passed was a beautiful one spent with his loved ones.

Chudkosky and his wife, Bella of Union City, New Jersey; his daughter, Lora Chudkosky and her partner, Michelle Walsh of Wappingers Falls, New York; his granddaughter, Kaylee Giusti-Chudkosky of Wappingers Falls, New York; his sister, Kathleen Frascatore and her husband, Paul; his brother, Michael Chudkosky; his brother Walter Chudkosky; his brother Steven Chudkosky; his sister-in-law, Rose Chudkosky; his sister-in-law, Delia Chudkosky; and his brother-in-law, Michael Weisbrod.
