Obituary for Judith Evelyn "Judy" Rose

With great sadness, we announce the loss of Judith Evelyn (Haught) Rose, 81, of Beekman, NY on March 18, 2023 in Raleigh, NC.

Judy was born to Grace Kennedy Haught on February 26, 1942 in Bronx, NY. She attended West Babylon High School from 1956 to 1960. After high school, Judy worked for New York Telephone as an operator for nearly 15 years. In addition to being an operator, Judy also taught sewing classes to other employees.

Judy’s lifelong passion for arts and crafts led her to opening a store with one of her best friends. They operated The Gingerbread House of Crafts in Beekman from 1988 to 1993. Judy would once again share her love for arts and craft design to others by teaching classes at her store to community residents.

Judy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Roderick Stephen Rose, of Beekman, NY; her sons, Roderick Alfred Rose and Kyle Rose; Julie Halpin, daughter of her beloved cousin Margaret Kennedy who preceded her in death in 1994; her grandchildren, Michael Chase (Dahlia) Halpin, Matthew Connor Halpin and Martin Cole Halpin, along with a great-granddaughter, Mila Sloane Halpin. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Haught, in 1988.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 11am to 1pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a funeral service at 1pm at entombment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
