Obituary for Kenneth J. Roden

PUTNAM VALLEY – Kenneth J. Roden, 69, a lifelong resident of Putnam County, passed away peacefully at home on March 20, 2023. Born on July 7, 1953 in Mahopac, he was the son of the late Kenneth F. and Loretta (Oahs) Roden.

Ken graduated from Kennedy Catholic High School and then SUNY Oneonta. He earned his Juris Doctorate from New York Law School and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1980. Ken worked as Assistant District Attorney for Putnam County for many years and then as part of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit under the New York State Attorney General. He owned his own private practice, Kenneth J. Roden Law Office in Fishkill and Hopewell Junction until his retirement in 2016. During that time, he was assigned to many criminal cases in Dutchess County Court.

More than anything, Ken enjoyed his family, friends, the New York Yankees, and time spent on his boat. He was an avid visitor of Oscawana Lake during his life.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia (Pacio) Roden; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Christine and Michael Hendryk and Toni and James Contarino; his nieces and nephews, Kimberly and Benjamin Guinta, Ashley and Bill Murin, Michael Hendryk, Alana Contarino, and Nicholas Contarino who was also his Godson; his other Godson, Thomas Zarecki; his sisters, Suzanne Korolko and Cathy Selber and her husband Ed; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
