Obituary for Ralph J. Capuano

WAPPINGERS FALLS – Ralph J. Capuano, 89, an area resident since 2016, passed away suddenly on March 29, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in Calabash, NC.

Born in Yonkers on April 10, 1933, Ralph was the son of the late Roberto and Pasqua (DiRienzo) Capuano. He proudly served in the US Army from 1953-1955. He was employed by the Grand Union in Mount Kisco for over 27 years until his retirement in 1995.

Ralph had been a member of the Elks Club in Wappingers Falls and Calabash as well as the American Legion in Calabash. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed watching sporting events. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On May 17, 1958 at St. Matthews Church in Hastings-on-Hudson, Ralph married Lillian (Ryan) Capuano who predeceased him in 2017. He is survived by his children, Nancy Hansen and her husband Finn of Wappingers Falls, Lisa Brennan and her husband John of Verbank, Tracy Capuano Cotich of Wappingers Falls, and Dana Capuano and her partner Jim Wilson of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Patrick and Cristina Sidote, John Brennan and his fiancée Lauren McMenamin, Kelly and Scott Giuliano, and Jessica and TJ Miller; his great-grandchildren, Gianni, Max, Luca, Addelyn, Louie, Kenley, Maria, Lenny, Claudia, and Salvatore; his brother, Paul Capuano and his wife Loreta; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Ralph was also predeceased by his grandson, Anthony Sidote and his siblings, Mario Capuano, Amelia Gagliardi, Luday Capuano, and Benny Capuano.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Fresenius Dialysis Center in Fishkill for many years of care and compassion. They also want to thank Friends of Seniors, especially Susan Davidson and his faithful driver, Rich.

Calling hours will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Friday, March 31 from 3-6 pm with a funeral service and military honors at 6 pm.
