Marc Andrews Rizzo, age 57, passed away suddenly on March 28, 2023. He was born on April 6, 1965 to parents Salvatore and Sandra (Andrews) Rizzo in Poughkeepsie, NY. On April 12, 2021 in New Paltz, NY he married his beloved wife and best friend Vanessa (Lerner) Rizzo, who survives at home.
Marc received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Government from Cornell University and after graduation worked for senator Dick Gephardt. Marc then earned a Culinary Degree from the Culinary Institute of America. During his years at Cornell, he swam for their swim team, Cornell Big Red, and was one of the Top Ten Swimmers in the Country. Most recently, Marc was the Director of the Patriot Swim Team at Beacon High School. He also had a long career as a chef, at one time being the owner of the Mill House Panda in Poughkeepsie, NY. He also worked as head chef at various ski resorts in Colorado, including the Wildflower in Vail.
Marc was extremely passionate about music and was a wealth of knowledge about many different bands. He loved going to concerts and especially loved the Who and the Foo Fighters. He shared a love of sports with his father, and his favorite team was the NY Jets. Marc loved lifting weights, loved enjoying a glass of bourbon, going on long walks with his wife Vanessa, and he loved his dogs Jerry, Lincoln and Amber.
In addition to his loving wife Vanessa Rizzo, Marc is survived by his children: Jessica Ryan, Alexandra, Antonio and Giovanni Rizzo; his stepchildren: Maddie and Avery Rich; his grandchildren: Aria and Sienna Schmidt; his sister Traci Scriffignano; and his brother Bob Vializ.
Marc was predeceased by both of his parents.
Calling hours will be held from 2-6 pm on Saturday April 1st, 2023, with a funeral service at 6 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, NY 12533.
