Obituary for Brigid P. Szaniszlo
Brigid P. Szaniszlo died at her home in Fishkill on Sunday, May 7, 2023. She was 91.
Daughter of the late Owen and Ellen (McGovern) Lee, she was born in Corlea, Dowra, County Cavan, Ireland on July 19, 1931. At the age of 25, she emigrated by herself to the United States and settled in New York City.
For many years, Brigid worked for McGraw Hill Publishing Company in Manhattan.
She met her future husband, Joseph Szaniszlo, while attending dances at St. Stephen of Hungary Church in Manhattan, where they were married on August 25, 1962. Brigid was predeceased by Joseph on March 10, 2019.
Survivors include her daughter, Marie Szaniszlo; her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Mary Szaniszlo; her grandson, Ryan Szaniszlo; her sister, Maura Lee Doherty; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Brigid was also predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Michael Lee, Patrick Lee, and Annie Rita Lee.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 19 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY. Entombment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
