Obituary for Laura M. Prisco

Laura M. Prisco, 76, passed away on May 7, 2023 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 16, 1946 in the Bronx to parents John and Rosetta (Ferrari) Sozzi. While only a young girl her father passed away and her mother eventually married Joseph Sozzi, who lovingly raised her as his own. On September 28, 1969, she married her beloved husband George Prisco at St. Francis Xavier Church in the Bronx. George survives at home.

Laura began her career at AT&T as Secretary to one of the Executive Presidents. After that, she spent many happy years as Secretary to the School Principal at LaGrange Elementary School in LaGrange, NY. She was well known for her outgoing personality, unique style and cherished being an active part of the school community while building lasting relationships with the parents and students there. Laura was a very caring person who made many lasting friendships over the years. She was very family oriented and tirelessly sought to take care of her loved ones. She fondly looked forward to Sunday dinners and also spending time with her two grandchildren, Corey and Kailah, who brought her so much joy. In her spare time she enjoyed shopping, reality television, going out to lunch, laughing, singing and spending time with her friends.

In addition to her husband George, she is survived by her son Jesse Prisco and his wife Julie; her grandchildren Corey and Kailah Prisco; her sister Vivian Rizza and many extended family members. Laura was predeceased by her parents and by her nephew Paul Rizza.

Memorial calling hours will be held on Saturday May 20th, 2023 from 2-6 pm, with a funeral service beginning at 6 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. In lieu of flowers the Prisco family would greatly appreciate donations be made in Laura’s memory to Hudson Valley Hospice www.hvhospice.org as the support, care & guidance bestowed upon all of them was an immeasurable blessing.
