Obituary for Jean A. Ludwig

POUGHQUAG – Jean A. Ludwig, 85, an area resident since 2002, died peacefully at home on May 18, 2023. She previously lived in New City.

Born in New York City on August 18, 1937, Jean was the daughter of the late Eugene Paul and Rosaria (Perri) Valente. She had worked at the Department of Treasury (IRS) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Jean was a parishioner at St. Columba Church where she was part of the Rosary Makers Club.

On May 8, 1960 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mount Vernon, Jean married the love of her life, Raymond J. Ludwig who survives at home after 63 years of marriage. She is also survived by her sons, Michael Ludwig and his wife Colleen Bailey of Haverstraw and Raymond Ludwig and his wife Jean Ludwig of Poughquag; her grandchildren, Corryn Bailey-Ludwig, Michael Bailey-Ludwig, Cara Arcadia, Kathryn Ludwig, and Jeanne Marie Ludwig; her great-grandchildren, Michael, Madison, Matthew, Mason, and Emma; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jean was also predeceased by her sisters, Julie DePasquale, Yolanda Mazzaro, and Josephine Galderisi.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 25th from 4 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, May 26th at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
