Obituary for Mary A. Baumann
HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Mary A. Baumann, 79, passed away peacefully at home on May 24, 2023 with her granddaughter, Reyna, by her side. Reyna, a recent college graduate, plans to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps as a Registered Nurse.
Born on September 21, 1943 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Thompson) Sansone and raised in the Bronx. She previously lived in Flushing, Wappingers Falls, and Newburgh.
Mary graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing, and then began her career at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City. She worked at many doctors’ offices and nursing homes throughout the area. She had been employed at Fishkill Home Care and St. Catherine Street Community Center, where she was instrumental in caring for the HIV/AIDS population.
On September 12, 1970 at St. Margaret of Cortona Church in the Bronx, she married Raymond Baumann who predeceased her in 2017. She is survived by her daughter, Jean-Marie Baumann Kennedy & her husband Brian of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren who were here entire world, Reyna Ariel, Riley Grace, and Reid Raymond; her brother, Francis X. Sansone and his wife Patricia; and many other relatives & friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was also predeceased by her brother, Paul Vincent Sansone.
Calling hours will be held from Thursday, June 1st from 4 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 2nd at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
