Obituary

Ada S. Grace, 91 of Buzzards Bay, MA formerly of Medfield, MA, and Hopewell Junction, NY died Saturday, November 29, 2014 after almost seven years of learning to live with the paralyzing effects of a stroke. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles H. Grace who passed in 2001.

Ada is survived by two siblings, a sister, Louise Peters of Catonsville, MD, and a brother Harold Stine of Palm Coast Florida. Also surviving are four children and their families; Seth Grace and his wife Julie of Herndon, VA, Sonia O'Neil and her husband James of Sandwich, MA, Stuart and his wife Sally of Poughquag, NY, and Timothy Grace and his wife Deborah of Sherwood, OR. Ada was beloved by her grandchildren as well: Katie Grace, James O'Neil, (wife, Sarah) Briana O'Neil, Robert Grace, Michael O'Neil, Diana Grace, and Madeline Grace, and Tracy Dayton (husband, Gary).

Ada was born on November 10, 1923, in Greencastle, PA to her parents, Abram and Barbara Cook Stine. She is a graduate of Greencastle High School, and Hagerstown Business College. Ada was married on August 13, 1955. During her lifetime, she stayed active in many ways beginning with her stint playing for the Hagerstown Cabinettes, a female basketball team. Ada and her husband joined the Hopewell Reformed Church in Hopewell Jct., NY on November 3, of 1967, and have maintained that relationship to this day. Throughout her life, she was active in church life including the ladies guild, the choir, and a prayer shawl group. Many years were spent as a Girl Scout Leader and a secretary for the Poughkeepsie office. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, and traveling. Any time she was within 20 miles of any friend or relative, she would stop in for a visit as she loved keeping up and staying in touch with people's families.

The family would like to acknowledge the many people who have stayed in touch, written hundreds of cards during her long stay at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Buzzards Bay, MA. We offer an especially huge thank you to Joanne (Jo) Haugh for her weekly letters of friendship. We are grateful to Fidelis Hospice, especially their pastoral care. And lastly, our deep thank you to each and every staff member of the Royal Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation for their love and care.
