HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Agnes Kopchik, 82, an area resident since 1970 and formerly of Hastings-on-Hudson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2015 surrounded by her family at the Lutheran Care Center.

Born in Yonkers on April 20, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Carmela (Bernacki) Pleva. On May 22, 1955 at St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church in Yonkers, she married Steve Kopchik, Jr. who predeceased her on October 26, 2014 after almost 60 years of marriage.

Agnes was a parishioner at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. She enjoyed helping everyone in need, whether neighbors, friends, or strangers. She was an example and role model to all with her deep faith and kind heart. Agnes worked for many years at the Lil Darling Shoppe in Wappingers Falls and was a longtime member of the Morning Glories bowling team. Agnes enjoyed crafting, playing Bingo, and traveling with her family.

Agnes dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted mother to her sons and their wives, Steve and Tracey Kopchik of Hopewell Junction, Mark and Carolyn Kopchik of LaGrange, and Ronald and Julie Kopchik of New Jersey; a loving grandmother to Katie, Christa, Colleen, and Lauren Kopchik; sister of Clare Janos of Tarrytown; and an aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Walter "Bill" Pleva.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
