Agustin Rodriguez, a local area resident for the last ten years, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Fishkill on Thursday, August 6, 2015. He was 81.
Son of the late Cesar Rodriguez and Maria Martinez, he was born in Madrid, Spain on November 30, 1933. At the age of 22 he moved to England, where he met Jean Killow. They were married on July 23, 1960 and came to the United States two years later.
Before moving to Dutchess County, he had also resided in Westchester County, Long Island, and Queens. Agustin was a successful restauranteur, having owned and operated several restaurants throughout the region including The Annex and Mañana, both of Manhattan, La Fonda del Sol in Wappingers Falls, and Camino Reál in Pleasantville.
He will be remembered for his spirit of laughter and great knowledge that spanned many topics including art, politics, and world history. Most recently, Agustin was exhilarated with the growth and revitalization occurring in the City of Beacon.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Rodriguez of Fishkill; his daughter, Heather Consolato & her husband Rick of Fishkill; his son, Gus Rodriguez of Fishkill; his grandchildren, Madison & Ronny Consolato of Fishkill; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Zaida Rodriguez of Spain, Douglas & Ursula Killow of Australia, and Roy Killow of England; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends. He will also be missed by his faithful labradoodle, Chulo.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by three siblings, Cesar Rodriguez, Lolita Benadiba, and Paco Rodriguez.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 9 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home, immediately following calling hours.
