Aida C. Arevalo, a resident of Wappingers Falls, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. She was 89.
Daughter of the late Graciano Arevalo and Purificación Singson, she was born on January 13, 1932 in the Philippines, where she was raised in the Negros Occidental province.
Aida graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. She emigrated to the United States more than 70 years ago and served as a physician for the New York State Department of Corrections at Downstate Correctional Facility. She retired in 2000.
Aida enjoyed many hobbies such as reading, fishing, and ballroom dancing. She attended Mass at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.
She is survived by two sisters, Tella Tañedo of California and Amelia Baterna of Maryland; as well as a host of nieces and nephews along with their families.
She was predeceased by her parents as well as her siblings, Rodolfo Arevalo, Gloria Arevalo, Angelina Hernandez, and Antonio Arevalo.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 5 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 6 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill.
