CARMEL – Aida de Jesus Pires Goncalez, 89, died peacefully at her home on January 20, 2021 after a longtime illness.
Born in Juizo, Portugal on May 6, 1931, Aida was the daughter of the late Amandio Augusto and Elisa (de Jesus) Pires.
Aida is survived by her daughter, Maria Cristina de Jesus Pires Goncalez Bleakley and her husband Robert; her son, Isaias Goncalez and his wife Soraia Pereira Goncalez; her grandchildren, Robert, Andrew, and Jesse Bleakley and Patrick Goncalez and his wife Samantha; and her great-grandson, Wyatt Goncalez. In addition to her parents and husband, Aida was also predeceased by her brothers, Manuel Pires and Jose Pires; and her granddaughter, Kayla Goncalez in 2019.
Due to current COVID restrictions, a private Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction followed by burial at Milltown Rural Cemetery in Brewster.
