Obituary

Alba L. Escobar, 83, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 2010 and previously of Panama City Beach, FL and the Bronx, died on Monday November 27, 2017 at Lutheran Care Center.

Born on April 8, 1934 in Colombia, South American, Alba was the daughter of Carlos and Rosa (Puentes) Escobar. She had worked as a code interpreter for a special surveillance force and as the MIS Director for the American Heart Association for 16 years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and traveling.

Alba is survived by her son, Michael Figueroa of Ontario, Canada; her daughter, Joann Torres of Hopewell Junction; and her grandsons, Justin Torres of Hopewell Junction, Vincent Figueroa of Albany, Elliot Torres of Hopewell Junction and Gabriel Torres of Hopewell Junction.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lutheran Care Center for the care and support provided to Alba.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
