LAGRANGE – Albert Edward Hazel, 81, an area resident for over 50 years, died peacefully at his home on March 15, 2022.

Born in Manhattan on May 27, 1940, he was the son of Albert and Louise (Keough) Hazel. Albert had been employed as a truck driver for many years, and then worked with his family in their business, Payline Phone Company.

Albert was a parishioner of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church. He was a member of the NRA and a member of the The Century Museum at the Dutchess County Fair. He was a former member of the LaGrange Fire Department. Albert loved spending time with his family and friends who all looked forward to the fabulous parties he planned. Above all, we will miss his amazing sense of humor, acceptance, and love for everyone in his life.

Albert is survived by his son, Shawn Hazel; his daughter, Sheri Tompkins and her husband Joseph; his special friend whom he considered a daughter, Julie Raylor; his grandchildren, Sadie Brown, Makenzie Hazel and Shawn Hazel Jr.; his great-grandson, Ryder Hazel; his former wife, Maureen Hazel that always remained his life-long friend; his brother, Robert Hazel and his wife Tammy; his sister-in-law, Deborah Hazel; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Richard and George. The family would like to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for their support during Albert's last few days of his life.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 9 from 11am-12pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a service at 12pm and interment will follow in St. Denis Cemetery.
