Albert J. Martini, 86, a resident of Hopewell Junction and Port St. Lucie, FL and formerly of Yonkers, died on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Port St. Lucie Medical Center.
Born in Freeland, PA on February 21, 1926, he was the son of Bartholomew and Catherine Ferrara Martini. He proudly served our country in the US Army as a Sergeant in the US Army during World War II. He attended Patton's funeral and the Nuremberg Trials. He was a Veteran of Foreign Wars. Albert was employed as a Sheet Metal Worker for the Sheet Metal Union Local #38 in Brewster for 35 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and St. Lucy Church in Port St. Lucie. He was a 3rd Order of Franciscans at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers, NY. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7514 in Port St. Lucie, and a member of the Moose Lodge and Elks, also in Port St. Lucie.
On November 26, 1986 in Yonkers, Albert married Clotilda "Carol" Campana. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Karen and George Gray of Naragansett, RI and Lauren and John Giardina of Hopewell Junction; his sister, Margaret Amodio of White Plains; his grandchildren, Heather, Jeremy, Gianna and George Gray, Johnna and Joseph Giardina; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc.,
895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
