EAST FISHKILL – Alberto “Albert” Pettinella, 77, a resident of Fishkill and East Fishkill, NY for 52 years died on Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
Born in Ripi, Italy on February 17, 1933, Albert was the son of the late Giuseppe and Annunziata Recine Pettinella. Albert immigrated to the United States at the age of 14 and began working at his uncle’s restaurant/catering hall business in the Bronx, New York.
On October 12, 1957, at St. Lucy’s Church in the Bronx, he married his wife Anna Maria Broccoli, a young school girl that he spotted at a bus stop. He enjoyed 42 wonderful years of love, laughter and family with his devoted wife Anna Maria until her passing on August 14, 1999.
In 1958, he moved his family from the Bronx to a small upstate town known as Fishkill, New York to follow his uncle in building a catering hall and resort. Realizing his passion was in the building and construction field, he worked tirelessly over the next 30 years as a partner of K & A Excavating Inc. Albert continued his passion for construction working side by side with his family in building and construction. He was happiest on a bulldozer or backhoe moving the earth to its proper elevation and location. His tireless work ethic and commitment to his family will remain a lasting legacy.
