Alejandro Loperena, 90, a resident of Pleasant Valley since 2004 and formerly of Port Chester, died on September 12, 2026 at his home. Alejandro will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on March 16, 1936, he was the son of the late Manuel Loperena and Leonides Correa. Alex proudly served our country and was employed as a chef at St. Vincent's Hospital in Harrison. He had served as an usher at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley and St. Mary's Church in Port Chester.

Family meant everything to Alex, and he took great joy in spending precious moments with his loved ones, including five generations of family. His warmth and gentle spirit left a lasting impact on those around him, creating a legacy of compassion and love.

Alex is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Ann (Birdsell) Loperena; his children and their spouses, William and MJ Guiffredo, Dorothy and William Buick, Daniel Loperena and John Loperena; as well as 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 7 great, great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his three brothers and three sisters.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-5pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10am at the funeral home followed by interment in the Middle Patent Rural Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Alex's name to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
